  ACAC Creative Writing Group

  3rd Wednesday of the month from 7-9 pm

  Have you always wanted to pursue your writing goals and recognize that there is value in having the positive mentorship and encouragement of like minded individuals? On the third Wednesday of each month, in person or through zoom, you can achieve this support and revitalize your writing goals.  

  This is a no pressure group. Writing experience varies from published authors to complete novices. Every voice is important.

  The ACAC is launching a new, weekly group for those who love to paint with Acrylics

  The ACAC loves to offer its members a chance to gather and practice their art. After all, its more fun in a group with others to inspire and support one's efforts.  If you have been meaning to get back to the easle and do something creative, this no pressure, group may be for you. Sue Mollard had just that thought and so she has volunteered to be the hostess for the group.

  ACAC groups are designed for members, but we invite others to come and visit a time or two to see if membership is for you. Adult memberships are $45 for one year and seniors over 65 are $40.

  As in all groups, we invite you to drop a tooney in the jar to help keep the lights on.

  This weekly group will start Wednesday Sept. 30th from 10:00 -1:00 pm.

• Round Willow Basket: An introduction to Stakes and Strand Willow Weaving

  In the dark days of early winter, before the solstice, come experience the magic of the willow.  You will delight in this craft that touches all the senses. The fragrance of the willow will transport you to springtime. The generosity of the specially cured branches will bend to your hand and create a round stake and strand basket that will serve you for years to come. Enjoy the community chatter as you learn with others and leave with a completed vessel. 

  In this introductory stake and strand willow basketry class we will create a round basket around the size of a fruit bowl. You will learn how to create a 4x4 slath, 3 rod base wale, french rand side weave and end with a 2 pair border. This is a beginner friendly weaving project, no prior experience required. Please note, working with willow requires a fair amount of hand strength and can be challenging on your joints. All tools will be provided, please bring a lunch.

  
  

  There is a lot of time and physical work that goes into preparing the willow for a class as each strand is grown, harvested, dried and then soaked for 4-6 days.  As such, students are responsible for paying a $25 Kit Fee to the instructor on the day of the class.

  Member Cost: $150.00

  Non Member Cost: $160.00

  This class will take place at The Church at Nairn on November 7th.  It runs from 10:00 - 4:00 pm with a 1/2 hour lunch break.

  This class sold out so quickly and the results were so outstanding, that we persuaded Wilma and Rebecca to teach the class again. Christmas cards this time!!!  Grab a friend and prepare to create some beautiful cards.

  Here's a new approach to card making!  Use quality paper napkins to create stunning cards for any occasion. 

  Napkins will be provided as we learn the technique together, but then you will have your choice of napkins for the rest of your cards. If you have one at home that you really want to try, bring it along and we can see if it will work. You will go home with 4 - 6 beautiful cards!
